PERMACULTURE SOLUTIONS

  • PRUNING FOR TREE & SHRUB HEALTH

Woody perennial plants are best pruned during dormancy — (late winter to early spring). April is often too late.

I provide careful, intentional pruning for residential landscapes.

    PRIORITIZATION

    • Long-term plant health and structure

    • Clean, precise cuts made with restraint

    • Decisions guided by plant biology rather than speed or volume

    • This is not chainsaw-first pruning — It’s deliberate work with a long view.

    EXPERIENCE & APPROACH

    • 15+ years of pruning experience

    • Permaculture-based, whole-system perspective

    • Holistic approach

    • Precision hand tools

    • Thoughtful, case-by-case decisions

Luke regularly works with fruit trees, ornamental trees, and shrubs on residential properties in Western North Carolina.

Clients may observe, ask questions, and learn during the session — or simply have the work done efficiently and correctly.

    SCHEDULING & DETAILS

Limited sessions are available as spring approaches.

Scheduling and payment are flexible and straightforward.

Good pruning now reduces problems later.

  • Want to collaborate on a plan that is developed from patterns to details utilizing the permaculture framework?

Often, investing the time to think through a holistic plan returns huge dividends.

An ounce of preparation is worth a pound of cure:

    • missed opportunities

    • unforeseen problems

    • overwhelm

    • constant rearranging

You’ll learn to know your land, yourself, and how everything works together as well as have a long term vision and an actionable roadmap to get there.

  • The overarching theme of the process are 3 major steps:

    1. Observe & Analyze

    2. Design From Patterns To Details

    3. Formulate A Phase One Action Plan

I have devised an efficient, step-by-step process, teaching concepts and skills along the way. You will learn by doing, by training your mind to consider the implications of both actions and inactions in your landscape. I’ll be available daily for support, guidance, and answers.

  • We meet on your land, observe, and discuss together. This can be a stand-alone service or the first step in a more intensive working relationship.

As we have this conversation, we can explore the options of my coaching program or more comprehensive planning and discuss next steps.

But you should leave this consultation with some real clarity of vision, understanding of the dynamics and functions of your unique land, and some actionable steps towards greater ecological stewardship

  • I have tools, experience, and a lot to offer. I love working alongside clients who need an extra set (or more) of hands with projects on the land. We can collaborate and learn from one another. I can also help to manage work parties where your friends and neighbors help out as well!

  • I believe wholeheartedly that the most achievable, widespread, ecological benefits come from many individuals understanding and practicing Permaculture imperfectly, not a few gurus living isolated in a private permaculture paradise.

Help me spread the awareness of permaculture by getting me in front of people who want to learn more! I would love to speak to your group, garden club, neighborhood, class, or camp. I can speak on a vast array of permaculture-related topics.
